Production Assistant/Researcher
The PBS show Wide Angle is currently working on a one-hour documentary about the evolution of Japan's Self Defense force. It will air in approximately 2 months.
We are looking for an experienced Japanese translator (either language direction fine) to act as a language consultant to the film's production assistant/researcher.
The consultant would need to be available by phone and e-mail to answer questions about the meaning of various words related to Japanese military terminology. The researcher is a JE translator, and would be able to send Japanese text to provide context.
The film includes high profile interviews with a variety of politicians etc., so the consultant would need to have a very good grasp of both military terminology and be comfortable with legal content.
This would not be a very time intensive assignment, and would likely only entail a few 5 minute phone calls/emails per day. The position would also entail agreeing not to talk publicly about the film content before it is aired.
